Protected: Code of Conduct

Grimmoire Productions seeks to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone involved, including participants, staff, volunteers, and non-participants who share space with us, such as venue staff and guests. We expect everyone who is involved to follow our Code of Conduct and act accordingly both in and out of game while you are with us. This Code of Conduct also applies to online spaces. Failure to comply with these rules may result in your expulsion from the event.

General:

  • All players are above the age of 21 and everyone is responsible for their own actions.
  • Everyone is expected to treat one another with decency and respect.
  • Please keep all game play limited to the event space.
  • Alcohol is permitted on site, but you must drink responsibly. If anyone is found to be visibly intoxicated or impaired in any way, we will have you removed from play for the safety of yourself, our staff, and your fellow players.
  • Illegal substances will not be allowed, and possession of such is grounds for immediate removal from the event. (Note: cannabis is illegal in Wisconsin, and as such is grounds for removal.)
  • You are subject to the laws of Wisconsin and the rules of the venue that is hosting us.
  • Any damage your actions cause to the venue will be your personal responsibility.

Harassment:
We intend to create an inclusive and low-risk community and as such will not tolerate any harassment or discrimination regarding anyone’s sex, gender, sexuality, religion, ethnic background, disability, appearance, etc. While some in-character conversation may take on references to these topics, should any player feel uncomfortable, they are permitted to “opt-out” and excuse themselves at any time with or without explanation.

Should you feel that you are being personally targeted out-of-character, or witness inappropriate behavior, please report it to the event staff. You may report at any time, before, during, or after the game. Anonymous reporting will also always be available.

Disciplinary measures will be made based on evidence and a course of action will be decided upon by the organizers. Any activity that is deemed unlawful may be reported to the police.

Zero-Tolerance Policy:
We take reports of physical and sexual misconduct and abuse very seriously, and have a zero-tolerance policy with those topics. Reports made of these natures will result in the immediate removal from play of the reported individual, and potentially immediate removal from the game as a whole.

Consent:
You are expected to follow all rules regarding consent both in and out of character. There will be visual markers as well as gestures to apply our consent mechanics that will be taught at the game-on workshops.

Unless otherwise noted, Hawkins operates on the “opt-out” policy. You are responsible for your own boundaries, but we also expect you to be checking in with one another.

We believe in enthusiastic consent. Yes means yes, and anything else, including a “maybe” or silence, is a no. There is no in between. If someone proposes something you are uncomfortable with, you can refuse it outright or offer a compromise that you are comfortable with. You and only you have the right to make decisions about your body and comfort in a situation. If you are not okay with something, say something. Participants are always free to reset their boundaries or disengage. If someone is uncomfortable with something and opts-out or leaves, you are prohibited from pressuring them, and they are not obligated to elaborate.

Please be mindful of triggering topics and get the consent of everyone involved before continuing with those topics. Plot regarding race, while an important part of people’s lives in the 1980s and today, will be exclusively opt-in at player discretion. Otherwise, please ignore it.

If you are having a serious problem, contact an organizer.
